Multiple Sclerosis Society of WA CEO Marcus Stafford will share his views on the social and community services sector at a CCI-hosted event morning tea.
Embracing Change will be held at the CCI Function Centre on 21 March.
CCI’s IR and Safety Policy Officer Kelly Dudgeon will open the floor to allow comments about the implementation of the NDIS, the changing operational environment and organisational sustainability in the sector.
She will also provide a brief update on CCI’s policy forum.
Stafford has held senior management positions in large and small organisations around the world.
As CEO of MSWA, which has 650 staff, he will offer fascinating insights on how to embrace opportunities that safeguard the future.
Most recently announced in the sector, the Commonwealth and WA Governments finalised negotiations on a nationally consistent, WA-delivered NDIS on February 1 with the signing of a bilateral agreement.
CCI has long advocated for a federated model administered in WA to deliver more efficient outcomes for participants on the ground.
This policy platform was developed following consultation with CCI Members in the disability sector and evidence that was available at the time from the trial sites.
Planning and Disability Services Minister Donna Faragher’s office has confirmed with CCI the agreement means service providers will continue to receive funding in advance of providing services rather than in arrears of the service provision.
Commonwealth Minister for Social Services Christian Porter said the bilateral agreement demonstrated both governments were committed to the key NDIS principles of choice and control, giving people with disability access to the support they need no matter where they live.
“WA’s agreement with the Commonwealth provides complete national consistency around key elements such as eligibility and access to supports provided through the NDIS.
“The agreement also details that funding for the administration and operating costs will be the responsibility of the WA Government, and governance responsibilities will be shared.”
