Ricky Grace puts the bounce into tee-off

Ricky Grace may have scored more than 8000 points for the Perth Wildcats during his legendary time there in the 1990s, but he’s not so confident about his prospects on the golf course.

Grace will be a star attraction at CCI’s Charity Golf Day on 31 March at the Vines Resort and Country Club.

“I would like to apologise in advance to the golf course for what I am about to do to it,” he says.

Grace is CEO of the charity Role Models and Leaders Australia, the beneficiary of proceeds from the golf day.

The former Olympian says he’s looking forward to the camaraderie that will emerge between executives on the day.

The popular networking event has been running for more than 20 years.

“It’s always a great way to meet successful people in the community and to spread the message about the great work we’re doing with indigenous girls,” he says.

Grace founded the not-for-profit in 2004. It offers school-based programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls across the country to help them complete their education.

“We appreciate the support and this will go towards closing the gap and services that are given to girls versus boys because there is a huge gap in corporate and government support when it comes to girl’s programs versus boy’s programs,” he says.

“Girls are the backbone of the family and the community so it’s an area that I decided to focus on when I was made aware of this inequity.”

The four ball ambrose will tee off at 8.30am with registrations from 7am. The Vines Resort and Country Club is renowned as one of the best golf resorts in Australia.
