How long has it been since you checked the expiry date on your enterprise agreement?
Under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) (“FW Act”), agreements can only operate for a maximum of four years.
Having a current enterprise agreement in place can eliminate the risk to your business of protected industrial action, and can help to clarify disputes which may have cropped up under your previous agreement.
In the last few years, agreement making has become fraught with technicalities and minor errors which may not have been picked up last time around are now resulting in agreements being rejected by the Fair Work Commission.
If it has been a while since you have run the agreement making process, it is vital that you are up to speed with the legislative requirements.
►CCI is conducting a one-day Enterprise Agreements course, designed to give you confidence in the process of creating an agreement with your employees. Book your seat here.
