Campbell Eaton

International Trade Officer

How would you describe your role at CCIWA?

Helping West Australian businesses with their export journey. I assist clients by providing export market analysis to inform them of suitable markets for their products, export documentation and potential buyers in-market to connect with the client. I am also a representative for the Australian Made Campaign, which is a widely recognised and trusted symbol of Australian quality.

What does a typical day look like?

A day is never typical within the International Trade and Investment Centre (ITIC) team. We work on a wide variety of projects, either for clients, or to deliver government grant programs. However, progressing on client work (research and report writing), meeting with the team to discuss our current projects, and meeting with prospective clients, is standard.

The most exciting part of my job is the fantastic exposure this role provides in working with local, state, and federal government agencies. There are always opportunities to interact and work with a very diverse web of stakeholders.

Finding applicable product-specific rules of origin under the MERCOSUR trade-bloc to allow a client duty-free import of their product into Brazil, if it underwent a suitable transformation to change tariff classification in Chile first.

Best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t settle. Sometimes you need to make yourself uncomfortable to grow as a person.

Who inspires you?

My grandfather, Ross, continues to be a big inspiration in my life. Seeing what he’s made for himself from nothing inspires me to continually push myself to improve.
