Siobhan Griffiths

Manager, Employee Relations Advice Centre

How would you describe your role at CCIWA?

I am responsible for the Employee Relations Advice Centre (affectionately known as ERAC). This involves leading a team of expert advisers to help WA businesses with their employee issues.

What does a typical day look like?

A typical day in the office usually starts with having a laugh with a colleague and a cup of tea. I then turn my focus to supporting the team by doing coaching, complex advice queries, speaking to businesses, managing big projects and much more.

What’s the most exciting part of your job?

Working with an amazing team who genuinely care about helping businesses in WA.

What’s your most memorable achievement at work?

My promotion from senior adviser to team leader (before I joined CCIWA).

Best career advice you’ve ever received?

Follow your interests. I was ambitious early in my career and often did what I “should” do to achieve traditional career success. Once I heard the above advice, I realised that when my career was aligned with my passion and purpose in life, I was much happier and more successful.

Who inspires you?

The people around me but especially my Dad. While I was growing up I watched him work as a manager and a director at a university. I still respect his fair and level-headed approach to work and life. I am also inspired by public figures like Michelle Obama.

Describe CCIWA in three words.

Purposeful. Supportive. Growing.
