The Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCI) today welcomes the State Government’s announcement that implementation of the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy has now been completed.
The State Government spends $27 billion annually on procurement, so ensuring local businesses have access to these opportunities is critical to helping businesses grow and create jobs and to retain our skilled workforce.
But while it is important that local businesses can gain access to supply chain opportunities, it is equally critical this is achieved without onerous regulations being imposed on major project contractors. This could deter new investment, slow down project development, hinder economic growth and undermine new job creation.
CCI is a leader in supporting industry participation in WA through our operation of the Industry Capability Network (ICN).
ICN plays a key role in connecting local service providers with major projects, to ensure local content outcomes are effective and efficient for all WA businesses across the supply chain.
ICN helps save project teams time by alerting suppliers to opportunities and connects suppliers who can undertake the full scope of works with project teams. Since 2013, ICN has helped more than 400 WA companies across the supply chain win work across over 1600 tenders and contracts.
Businesses looking for their next contracting opportunity in WA can contact ICN to view a list of projects and work packages.
