Are you paying your Apprentice or Trainee correctly?

11 April, 2017

A recent report conducted by the Fair Work Ombudsman has revealed some businesses have been incorrectly paying their apprentices and trainees or have failed to comply with record-keeping and payslip requirements.

Apprentices and trainees must be paid for every hour they work and receive their lawful rate of pay.

The Fair Work Ombudsman has developed tools to assist both employers and workers to understand their rights and obligations.

Pay and Conditions Tool (PACT) to assist to determine pay rates, allowances and check entitlements.

Record my Hours App makes it quick and easy for employees to record and store the hours they work, plus other information about their employment.

If you’re unsure whether you are paying your apprentice/trainee correctly or complying with record-keeping and payslip requirements, contact the Fair Work Ombudsman on 13 13 94 or visit their website here.
