Western Australian food and beverage manufacturers will get a free personalised emissions report and industry insight by contributing to an Energy Snapshot Study.
Led by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), the study aims to gather critical sector insights and provide practical, hands-on support to businesses ready to strengthen their energy performance and emissions capability.
But beyond informing policy, it offers immediate value to participating businesses with CCIWA Member RSM Australia offering free reports and support to eligible businesses who have not yet calculated their scope 1 and 2 baseline emissions.
Why this matters to businesses now
Energy and carbon reporting are no longer optional considerations for businesses.
“Customers, regulators, financiers and major retailers are increasingly seeking credible emissions data as part of procurement processes, financing approvals and ongoing compliance requirements,” Catherine Bell, Partner, ESG and Climate Services at RSM, said.
“For many food and beverage manufacturers, particularly those supplying into national retail or export markets, the ability to clearly articulate scope 1 and scope 2 emissions is fast becoming a commercial necessity.”
Bell said with high energy costs being a significant operational pressure for businesses, it was important to understand how energy was used and where efficiencies could be unlocked.
“This is critical to protecting margins and improving long-term resilience,” she said.
The Energy Snapshot Study has been designed to support businesses at every stage of this journey.
About the survey
As part of this initiative, participating businesses that need support in calculating their scope 1 and 2 baseline emissions can express interest in receiving free support from RSM Australia.
The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and explores:

- Current energy use and cost pressures
- Renewable energy adoption
- Emissions measurement capability
- Key drivers and barriers to decarbonisation
Every participant will receive:
- Personalised Carbon Peer Benchmark Report
- Industry Insights Report
- Invitation to the Study Findings Launch Event
All responses will be strictly confidential and only reported in aggregated form.
The survey closes on April 15.
Free scope 1 & 2 baseline support from RSM
“For many businesses, calculating emissions for the first time can feel complex or resource-intensive,” Bell said.
“This initiative removes that barrier, providing expert guidance at no cost to participating organisations.”
Places for this support are limited, so early participation is essential.
