Exporting: Nailing the deal

By CCIWA Editor

While your journey to exporter includes conducting your research, creating a plan and finding a partner, agent or distributor in your new market, you will need to seal the deal with an export sales contract.

This contract sets out the rules of engagement between you and your partner so negotiate terms that are as favourable to your business as possible and that you know you can deliver on.

The mechanics involved with the execution of an export contract may include:

  • Arrangement of necessary export documentation, such as Certificates of Origin
  • Organising international logistics and relevant insurances
  • Making sure you get paid
  • Managing the risk of dealing in foreign currencies.

If your business is looking to export, make our International Trade Services team your first port of call.  It holds the Austrade TradeStart partnership for the Perth metropolitan region, enabling it to draw on the networks of the Chamber and Austrade to provide advice and services to SME businesses looking at global expansion.
