Ryan Martin | Director
Ryan is a solicitor at Business Law WA. He has more than seven years’ experience providing quality advice on a variety of legal and employee relations matters to businesses in a wide range of industries.
Ryan’s expertise includes providing employment solutions that contribute to the strategic thinking and direction of businesses. This allows businesses to meet their core objectives and values by effectively drafting and negotiating contractual agreements.
He is able to provide advice and assistance across a range of areas including:

Ryan has appeared as counsel for clients before a number of commissions, tribunals and courts.
He earned his Bachelor of Laws from Edith Cowan University and is admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.
Erin Bethel | Senior Associate
Erin is a solicitor at Business Law WA and has more than seven years’ industry experience working both in-house for multi-national corporations and as a consultant. Erin has comprehensive experience providing practical legal and strategic advice to clients regarding a wide range of commercial, construction, and employment and labour related matters.
She is passionate about dispute resolution and frequently represents clients during negotiations and in proceedings before the Fair Work Commission. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland.
Martina Ivanovski | Senior Associate
Martina joined CCIWA in 2003 and has represented members in the Federal Court, Fair Work Commission, Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission, Industrial Magistrate’s Court, Equal Opportunity Commission and the State Administrative Tribunal.
Martina has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Notre Dame and specialises in:

- Dispute Resolution; and
- Discrimination and Equal Opportunity
Brett Douglas | Associate
Brett is a solicitor at Business Law WA and joined CCIWA in 2018. He has a raft of experience in litigation and commercial dispute resolution. He was admitted into practice in 2013 after obtaining his Bachelor of Laws from Murdoch University.
Prior to joining Business Law WA, Brett has worked at two WA commercial law firms assisting in dispute resolution, commercial litigation, estate planning, insolvency and extensive practice in employee and workplace relations issues.
He has represented and provided legal advice to clients at the Fair Work Commission, WA Industrial Relations Commission and the State Administrative Tribunal.
Jane Bourke | Lawyer
Jane is a lawyer at Business Law WA. She has previously worked in private practice and as an industrial relations adviser within the public sector.
She has experience in a variety of industrial relations and employment issues including:

- General protection claims

- Dispute resolution
- Award interpretation
- Underpayment claims
She earned a Juris Doctor postgraduate law degree, a Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia and has been admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
Michael McManus | Lawyer
Michael is a solicitor with the Business Law WA team who assists CCIWA members in a variety of areas including enterprise agreements, loaded rate calculations, unfair dismissals, dispute resolution, contractual issues, award matters, and other employment law areas.
Michael has earned a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Commerce (Corporate Finance) from the University of Western Australia, and was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2017.
Prior to joining CCIWA, Michael worked in commercial law and as an Associate at the Fair Work Commission, experience which brings with it a wealth of knowledge and unique insights into the field of industrial relations.
Laura Smith | Lawyer
Laura is a solicitor at Business Law WA. Laura joined CCIWA in 2014 as an Employee Relations Advisor in CCIWA’s Employee Relations Advice Centre.
She has intricate knowledge of industrial relations issues modern businesses face having previously worked as CCIWA's IR Policy Officer, where she engaged with CCIWA members regarding industrial relations, workforce development and social policy.
Laura can assist with:

- Complex performance management matters
- Employment law advice
- Enterprise agreements
She earned her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Employment Relations and Management) from the University of Western Australia and is admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
