Warren Edwardes

Warren Edwardes

Warren is the director of Business Law WA and the General Manager of Workplace Consulting at CCI.

He has worked as a solicitor for CCI and in private practice, and was a member of the WA Police Service.

Warren has experience consulting on a number of major construction projects. He is able to provide advice and assistance across a range of areas including:

  • Employment Law
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Discrimination/Equal Opportunity
  • Occupational Health and Safety

Warren has acted as counsel for a number of clients before the Fair Work Commission. He has also represented CCI in the Federal Court.

He has earned a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Notre Dame Australia and a Bachelor of Business (Human Resources Management) from Edith Cowan University.


Ryan Martin

Ryan Martin

Ryan has more than seven years’ experience providing quality advice on a variety of legal and employee relations matters to businesses in a wide range of industries.

Ryan’s expertise includes providing employment solutions that contribute to the strategic thinking and direction of businesses. This allows businesses to meet their core objectives and values by effectively drafting and negotiating contractual agreements.

He is able to provide advice and assistance across a range of areas including:

  • Employment Law
  • Discrimination/Equal Opportunity
  • Commercial Contracts

Ryan has appeared as counsel for clients before a number of commissions, tribunals and courts.

He earned his Bachelor of Laws from Edith Cowan University and is admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.


Erin Bethel

Erin Bethel

Erin has more than seven years’ industry experience working both in-house for multi-national corporations and as a consultant. Erin has comprehensive experience providing practical legal and strategic advice to clients regarding a wide range of commercial, construction, and employment and labour related matters. 

She is passionate about dispute resolution and frequently represents clients during negotiations and in proceedings before the Fair Work Commission. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland.


Stephen Farrell

Stephen Farrell

Stephen is a Senior Employee Relations Consultant at CCI and has thirteen years of experience as a Human Resources/Industrial Relations Practitioner. As part of the relationship between CCI and REEFWA, Stephen assists the REEFWA Committee by providing advice and advocacy on employee relations issues affecting real estate employers in WA.

Stephen has significant experience in representing and assisting employers in:

  • Drafting contracts of employment
  • Creation and variation of awards
  • Unfair dismissal and general protection claims
  • Liaising with industrial inspectors in underpayment claims
  • Resolving workplace disputes
  • Conducting workplace investigations
  • Strategic IR planning
  • Employee relations training
  • Reviewing and developing HR policies

Stephen provides advice to employers dealing with a wide range of industrial relations issues including Fair Work Commission review of awards, performance management of employees, the drafting of contracts of employment, managing right of entry, union relationships and means to improve workplace productivity.

Stephen is an experienced and passionate advocate for employers, having appeared before Full Benches and single Commissioners in both the federal and state commissions. He has a proven track record in being able to negotiate agreements or settlements to the benefit of his clients.


Martina Ivanovski

Martina Ivanovski

Martina joined CCI in 2003 and has represented members in the Federal Court, Fair Work Commission, Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission, Industrial Magistrate’s Court, Equal Opportunity Commission and the State Administrative Tribunal.

Martina has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Notre Dame and specialises in:

  • Employment law;
  • Dispute Resolution; and
  • Discrimination and Equal Opportunity

Lauren Hillbrick

Lauren Hillbrick

Lauren has previously worked as an Associate at both the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission and the Federal Court of Australia.

She has also worked in private practice and at a community legal centre specialising in employment law. 

Lauren regularly assists with:

  • Tribunal matters
  • Legal research
  • Employment contracts and policies
  • Employment law advice

She earned a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Industrial Relations) from the University of Western Australia. Lauren also holds a Masters of Employment Law (Distinction) from Robert Gordon University and has been admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.


Tomas Connolly

Tomas Connolly

Tomas has extensive experience as a human resources generalist across a range of industries including mining, construction, retail logistics and manufacturing.

He joined CCI in 2014, providing practical advice to CCI members on matters such as:

  • Facilitating collective bargaining for enterprise agreements
  • Application of awards and agreements
  • Audits of employee records and payroll
  • Human resources policies and procedures
  • Dispute resolution

Tomas also facilitates a number of employee relations courses for CCI; this includes facilitated training at client premises and structured to their specific needs.

Tomas has earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resources, Employment Relations and Management) from the University of Western Australia, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is currently studying a Bachelor of Laws.


Jane Bourke

Jane Bourke | Lawyer

Jane has previously worked in private practice and as an industrial relations adviser within the public sector.

She has experience in a variety of industrial relations and employment issues including:

  • Unfair dismissal
  • General protection claims
  • Commercial contracts
  • Dispute resolution
  • Award interpretation
  • Underpayment claims

She earned a Juris Doctor postgraduate law degree, a Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia and has been admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia.


Laura Smith

Laura Smith

Laura joined CCI in 2014 as an Employee Relations Advisor in CCI’s Employee Relations Advice Centre.

She has intricate knowledge of industrial relations issues modern businesses face having previously worked as CCI's IR Policy Officer, where she engaged with CCI members regarding industrial relations, workforce development and social policy.

Laura can assist with:

  • Employment contracts and policies
  • Complex performance management matters
  • Employment law advice
  • Enterprise agreements

She earned her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Employment Relations and Management) from the University of Western Australia and is admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
