The Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCIWA) congratulates Hon Roger Cook MLA on his appointment as the 31st Premier of Western Australia.
CCIWA has worked in close partnership with Mr Cook as Deputy Premier and especially in economic development and trade. His vision for WA is an ambitious one, and he has applied enormous energy to deepening WA’s relationships overseas to drive greater trade, investment and tourism to positive effect.
His premiership begins with huge opportunity ahead, for WA to grow and diversify our economy. It is critical we seize this opportunity, leading the way in the energy transition, while also building out our capacity in sectors such as life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and tourism.
While CCIWA will always support the strongest management of the State’s finances, we also believe now is the time to make some strategic long-term investments in order to drive greater prosperity. This includes reducing the payroll tax burden for our small and mid-sized businesses.
With a global race to establish the industries of the future underway, now is the time to make big calls on policy for our State’s future.
