WA’s food and beverage scene on show

Delegates from 17 premium food and wine import/distribution companies have been treated to the best of WA’s food and beverage scene during the Taste Western Australia Premium Food & Beverage Buyers’ Mission.

A joint event between CCIWA’s TradeStart services and key invest and trade State Government agencies, the 19 delegates are visiting WA from Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and the Eastern States representing the Asian, Middle East and US markets.

The mission, from May 4-12, introduces the delegates to WA’s premium food and beverage suppliers with visits to the Perth, Swan Valley, Great Southern and South West regions on an organised business matching and tasting tour incorporating 21 different tours and events.

The group, which also includes Korean famil journalists touring Australia with Austrade Trade and Investment Commissioner and Counsellor Helen Oh, will meet over 80 premium food and beverage suppliers for face-to-face introductions, sampling and business conversations.

Darren Levy, TradeStart Adviser at CCIWA’s International Trade and Investment Centre, said Austrade offices in key ASEAN, Gulf and UK markets were canvassed to make recommendations for appropriate buyers and assisted in the selection process.

“This is a fantastic example of CCIWA’s TradeStart services working with WA TradeStart agencies, industry and Government to showcase the State’s food and beverage businesses,” he said.

Funding and organising partners comprise the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) TradeStart WA, Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Invest and Trade Western Australia, Great Southern Development Commission and South West Development Commission.
