Pre-employment project aims to fill entry-level roles

By CCIWA Editor

Do you need entry-level workers that fit your business?

The Launch into Work program, through the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), has opportunities available for businesses who want to use a pre-employment project to recruit new staff.

Projects will prepare eligible individuals for specific entry-level roles, meaning they do not require a degree or higher-level vocational qualifications to commence work. Projects include training, mentoring and practical activities in the workplace tailored to the role to ensure participants build the skills and confidence they need to move directly into employment.

How it works

  • DEWR will work with businesses to co-design and deliver the pre-employment projects tailored to suit the roles businesses need.
  • The business will identify the personal values, attributes and behaviours they seek in individuals.
  • The business will then select the individuals to participate in the pre-employment project. The business will track project outcomes and lessons learnt, and report to DEWR.
  • Individuals who successfully complete the project will be employed by the business.
  1. Launch into Work Employer Panel
  • DEWR is seeking responses from businesses interested in becoming members of the Launch into Work Employer Panel.
  • he has released a Launch into Work Employer Panel - Request for Proposal on AusTender, which includes an information presentation, questions and answers and other procurement documents.
  • The Employer Panel will be established by April 2023 and cease on 30 June 2028.
  • Members of the Employer Panel may use Launch into Work projects to recruit at least 30 eligible job seekers per year into vacant entry-level roles within their business.
  • Questions about the Employer Panel please can be emailed to [email protected] before 8 February 2023. Responses close: 5pm (ACT local time) Wednesday 15 February 2023.

2. Launch into Work small scale projects

  • DEWR also has a limited tender process for small scale Launch into Work. Within this stream, DEWR can work with employers or organisations nominated by an employer to coordinate a project on their behalf. Organisations interested in the small scale project stream can express their interest by contacting DEWR via [email protected].
