The Cook Government’s consultation on Western Australia’s future energy needs will help to
give industry certainty at a time of rapid change.
The snap assessment comes as a result of the Government’s Trade and Economic Resilience
Roundtable in partnership with CCIWA and CME WA earlier this month.
CCIWA Chief Executive Peter Cock said industry would welcome the opportunity to contribute.
“We are very encouraged to see the Cook Government taking swift and decisive action off the
back of the roundtable discussion with WA business leaders,” he said.
“A clear theme from the robust discussion was around the need for energy security to attract
investment and boost WA’s competitiveness.
“There will be significant opportunities for WA as a result of the energy transition, but it’s vital
that industry has certainty around supply cost and reliability to allow them to make long-term
investment decisions.
“Transmission infrastructure and energy policy settings are a vital part of the decision-making
process for many WA businesses.”
CCIWA will work closely with the WA Government and other industry groups to contribute to the
review.
“Our organisation represents WA’s largest and most diverse membership group, so we look
forward to connecting with those businesses to ensure they have a seat at the table for these
discussions,” Dr Cock said.
“Small and family businesses through to large multinational companies across every sector rely
on a secure energy supply so it is vital those businesses have a say.”
