An efficient tax system should provide a productive economy that creates employment, income and wealth. Administrative simplicity and efficiency are critical to ensuring the cost of managing and complying with tax obligations are not excessive. A good tax system must also incentivise the efficient use of infrastructure and avoid distorting the efficient operation of markets.
We’re working for
- Ensuring there are no new taxes imposed on the business community.
- Advocating for the WA State Budget to return to surplus and reduce net debt through spending restraint, asset sales and efficiency improvements in the public sector – not by increased taxes.
- Limiting the rate of increases to existing taxes, fees and levies so they do not exceed the Consumer Price Index.
What we’ve been up to
Advocating for the State Government to raise the payroll tax threshold by $100,000 to $950,000 to support small businesses to create WA jobs, boost wages growth and diversify the economy. We’re asking Members to help reduce the tax on jobs by sharing their stories.
We played a leading role in advocating for Western Australia to receive its fair share of the GST.
