RCR Tomlinson has extended its reach in renewables via an EPC contract to install battery storage at a Victorian solar farm.
Perth-based RCR says it won the job for the Gannawarra energy storage system being developed by Edify Energy with co-investment from Edify Energy and Wirsol Energy.
Its scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, and construction of the balance of plant, which includes installation, testing and connection of the harmonic filters and state-of-the-art Tesla battery system.
The filters and battery will be free issued to RCR, as the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and the Victorian Government Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning are supporting the project with grant funding.
The project aims to extend the performance of the Solar Farm to a combined 50MW solar with 25MW/50MWh of storage.
RCR Tomlinson Managing Director Paul Dalgleish says RCR continues to consolidate its position in the renewable energy sector.
“This battery energy storage system will be integrated with the 50MW Gannawarra Solar Farm currently under construction by RCR and demonstrates the potential for integrating large-scale battery storage systems with solar,” he says.
Once constructed, the project will be the “largest combined utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system in Australia and amongst some of the largest in the world,” Dalgleish says.
