How do I calculate public holiday leave?

With the festive season upon us, you might be asking: What public holidays are my employees entitled to over this Christmas and New Year? We explain.

The Fair Work Act prescribes the relevant Public Holidays in Australia for National Systems Employers.

In WA, however, the Public and Bank Holidays Act 1972 also applies and sets out the rules on state-specific public holidays and substituted days.

Employers need to ensure they are across both pieces of legislation.
