Vinnies WA – a CCIWA Advantage Member – opened the Subiaco boutique in November 2024 with 100% of profits going towards its vital services, including emergency relief, homelessness, financial counselling and mental health support.
Luxe offers a curated range of high-end garments and accessories for occasions like school balls, race days, corporate functions and weekend getaways.
“We recognised the need to explore new revenue streams to support the vital programs delivered by Vinnies,” said Luxe Business Manager Zoe Hammond.
“Launching Luxe Designer Dress Hire presented an opportunity to pilot an innovative social enterprise – one that not only generates funds but also provides a valuable service for women in our community.”
Luxe Designer Fashion Hire is an Event Supporter of the 2025 CCIWA Diversity & Inclusion Awards, offering guests a discounted rate using the code CCIWA2025.
Dress hire for a good cause
The initiative taps into the fast-growing fashion rental market, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and the circular economy.
With 72% of Western Australians impacted with cost-of-living pressures, Luxe provides an affordable way to enjoy high-end fashion without the high-end price tag.
Most Luxe pieces are purchased seasonally from brands new, while a few others are donated by supporters or are sourced through Vinnies’ retail stores – including labels like Valentino, Tom Ford and Alexander McQueen.
At the earliest sign of wear, dresses are released for sale, helping to extend their lifecycle and reduce textile waste.
Beyond sustainability, Luxe is helping build confidence and connection. With six large change rooms, a selfie mirror and 360-degree photo platform, the boutique is designed to be an inclusive, welcoming space where everyone can feel at ease.
There is no need to book an appointment and there is no time limit – visitors to the boutique can take their time to find the perfect dress.
“We cater for sizes 4 to 20 and focus on helping people feel amazing, particularly school leavers who may have never tried gowns on in-store and don’t know what they might like,” Hammond says.
“It’s not just about the dress, it’s about discovering what suits them and having a great experience.”
Luxe also offers after-hours group bookings, giving friends or colleagues the chance to try on dresses together as part of a team-building or social event. For groups of eight or more, Luxe will stay open late, bring in extra staff and create a celebratory atmosphere.
