Local manufacturer drives stronger, lower-emission roads in WA

A Joondalup-based manufacturer Betta Roads is helping deliver more durable and lower-emission roads across Western Australia, as demand grows for sustainable construction solutions.

The family-owned business has been operating for more than 17 years, supplying soil stabilising products used across government, mining and private sector projects.

Director Paul Bright said the company’s Australian-made polymer technology was gaining traction for its ability to improve road performance while reducing environmental impact.

“We don’t believe there is any other product that can offer the same level of performance,” he said.

Sustainable alternative gains traction

Betta Roads’ PolyCom Stabilising Aid and Dustchek products are designed to preserve the dry strength of road materials in earthworks, offering an efficient and sustainable alternative to traditional binders.

Traditional binders can generate around 2,000kg of CO2 emissions during manufacturing, compared with just 3.14kg of CO2 per 2kg of PolyCom product.

The products are also easier to apply and can treat more material, helping reduce costs and improve project efficiency across remote and regional works.

Local manufacturing supports reliability

Betta Roads’ products are manufactured in South Australia and carry the Australian Made logo, which Bright said was central to the company’s value proposition.

“It’s important to us that our clients know our products are designed and manufactured here in Australia,” he said.

“We know for a fact that our products are of high quality because we can see the entire manufacturing process for ourselves.

“Manufacturing locally not only means that we can avoid supply shortages, it also lowers emissions, which our clients do appreciate.”

Australian Made brand adds credibility

Betta Roads product onsite Bright said the Australian Made certification played a key role in building customer trust and reinforcing the company’s sustainability credentials.

“Having the Australian Made logo communicates to our customers that we are environmentally focused and sustainability minded,” he said.

“We’re very proud to carry to the logo as we work with earthworks projects from here in Joondalup to all across Western Australia.”

The company’s track record has led to recognition across multiple levels of government, including Western Australia Local Government Supplier status, membership with the Local Government Works Association, and Department of Health approval for use in water catchment areas.

As infrastructure demand continues across WA, Bright said locally manufactured, sustainable solutions would play an increasingly important role in supporting long-term project delivery.
