Businesses have been urged to apply for Round 2 of the Carbon Innovation Grants Program as part of the State Government’s Climate Action Fund.
The purpose of the program is to build the capacity of heavy industry sectors to transition to net zero emissions by 2050, in line with government targets.
CIGP has two funding streams to support various stages of technology development that may require government support, these include:
- Feasibility studies – technologies and methods to progress from concept to real-world trials.
- Pilot projects and capital works – real-world testing of innovative technologies and methods from pilot stage through to full-scale deployment.
Grants worth $4.24 million were awarded to nine organisations under the program’s first round, with about $4.35 million to be made available via the program’s second round.
Grant applications will be managed via the Department’s SmartyGrants Portal.
Climate Action Minister Reece Whitby says: “While some might see climate change as a challenge, our Government sees it as an opportunity for Western Australians to do what they’re best at – innovate, adapt, and ultimately, succeed.”
“These grants will do more than just support decarbonisation, they will provide vital funding to businesses that will shape how our State’s economy responds to climate change and continues to grow in the coming decades,” he says.
Applications for Round 2 close on Friday, February 28, 2025.
