CCIWA is calling for a practical approach on managing work health and safety to the State Government’s review of WA’s work health and safety laws.
The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WHS Act) undergoes a review every five years and once completed, a report is tabled in Parliament.
The review process includes gathering feedback from industry and community stakeholders to identify areas of improvement to ensure the Act is fit-for-purpose and operates as indented.
“It is important that WA’s work health and safety laws reflect a contemporary, harmonised approach to protecting the health and safety of people at work,” said State Industrial Relations Minister Simone McGurk.
Business Law WA Senior Associate Agnes McKay added: “This is an opportunity for industry to provide feedback on how the current Act is working for business and comment on changes being proposed that increase the regulatory burden with no appreciable improvement to worker safety.”
CCIWA will be providing a submission on behalf of Members and WA industry to WorkSafe WA. Submissions close November 28 and can be made here.
If CCIWA Members have concerns on how the Act is operating and how it is impacting your business, email [email protected] as your insight will help shape CCIWA’s submission and discussion on the State’s WHS laws.
