Certificate of Origin

CCIWA is authorised to issue non-preferential certificates of origin for goods exported from Australia in accordance with the relevant international conventions. A certificate of origin is an export document that verifies the country of growth, production or manufacture of the goods specified thereon and is officially required by the customs authorities of many countries. The document is often requested by buyers to satisfy themselves that the products they are importing are wholly obtained, produced or manufactured in a particular country.

Types of certificates of origin
CCIWA is authorised to issue non-preferential Certificates of Origin:

  • Certificate of Australian Origin, CO6
  • Certified Declaration of Origin, CO9

CCIWA is also authorised to issue the following preferential free trade agreement (FTA) certificates:

  • ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand (AANZFTA)
  • Australia-Chile (ACLFTA)
  • China-Australia (ChAFTA)
  • Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)
  • Australia-India (AI-ECTA)
  • Indonesia-Australia (IA-CEPA)
  • Japan-Australia (JAEPA)
  • Korea-Australia (KAFTA)
  • Peru-Australia (PAFTA)
  • Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP)
  • Thailand Australia (TAFTA)
  • Australia-United Kingdom (AUKFTA)

Certain FTAs allow self-certification by the exporter and do not require CCIWA certification. For more information on the detailed process and requirements for self-certification, please refer to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade FTA webpage.

Other export documentation
We issue certificates of free sale and also provide stamping services for other documents such as visa letters, commercial invoices, packing lists, BSE-free declarations, agency and distributorship agreements.

Some documents, particularly exports to the Middle East, may require further legalisation by foreign embassies and consulates.

How to apply for certificates of origin
Exporters must register with CCIWA for documentation services prior to applying for each type of certificate of origin required. The registration process is free.

Electronic certification:

Certificates of origin can also be issued electronically via third-party providers, essCert and CertConnect. More information and user account registration with the providers can be found on their respective websites.

ATA Carnet

ATA carnets smooth the path for business travellers.

The ATA carnet is an international customs document that permits duty-free and tax-free temporary import of goods for up to one year. It contains pre-prepared unified customs declaration forms to be used at each customs border office and serves as a guarantee to customs duties and taxes.

Not having an ATA carnet could lead to costly delays getting through customs and even extra fees if you cannot prove the origin of an item.

CCIWA is a referral partner for ATA carnets issued by the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

Contact our International Trade Services team for more information.

Benefits of ATA carnets
ATA carnets cut red tape by simplifying and unifying customs border crossing regulations for temporary import and export.

With the ATA carnet, exhibitors, salesmen, artists, athletes, TV crews, technicians, event participants and business travellers may:

  • Travel through customs without paying import duties, taxes at each customs border office
  • Use one unified document for all declarations at home and abroad
  • Use one document for multiple destinations and trips throughout its one-year validity
  • Make advanced customs arrangements at predetermined costs

What goods are eligible for an ATA carnet?
ATA carnets cover almost everything, as defined in 11 annexes to the Istanbul Convention. ATA carnets are mainly issued to cover:

  • Goods for use at trade fairs, shows, exhibitions
  • Professional equipment
  • Commercial samples
  • Personal effects and goods for sports purposes

Customs authorities accept ATA carnets in accordance with the scope of application that they ratified. The goods must not go through any changes while situated in the country of temporary importation. ATA carnets do not cover perishable or consumable items, goods for processing or repair, or certain means of transportation defined under Annex C of the Istanbul Convention.

Accurately identify all goods or equipment going on your carnet with our template.

Australian Made, Australian Grown Logo

CCIWA is a founding member of the Australian Made, Australian Grown campaign. We are the WA agent and contact for new and existing subscribers.

Australian Made, Australian Grown helps people understand why it is important to support local farmers and manufacturers and makes it easy for them to do so, by assisting them to identify authentic Australian made or grown products.

The logo only appears on authenticated products that qualify as being Australian made or grown under a strict selection criterion.

Benefits of Australian Made logo

The Australian Made, Australian Grown logo is an identifier of quality and genuinely manufactured or grown Australian products worldwide. All licensed products are featured in the Australian Made online marketplace.

Licensees are provided with essential marketing tools that will help them grow their business and are offered support and guidance to ensure that they get maximum value from using the logo. Year-round marketing promotes products through a mix of on and offline advertising and promotion.
