Resources Online launched: WA environmental approvals go digital
Environmental applications for WA resource projects are set to be easier with the launch of a new online platform.
The WA Government’s Resources Online platform aims to centralise information and improve efficiency for state environmental approvals.
The platform will expand and improve the digital capability of mining and petroleum environmental lodgements, while providing a better customer experience and improved business processes.
Mines and Petroleum Minister David Michael says Resources Online is a major step forward in making Government services easier to access and navigate.
"The Cook Government remains committed to improving business processes and reducing red tape to provide industry with the certainty it needs to make investment decisions,” he says.
"While we are working hard to improve approval timeframes across the resources sector, at no point will we compromise on community expectations or the interests of Traditional Owners."
Online Resources will replace the current Environmental Assessment and Regulatory System (EARS) and will be administered by the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS).
The implementation will be phased, with other Government initiatives to be introduced in 2025.
Phase one will focus on migrating Programmes of Work (PoW) from EARS to Resources Online.
Users will be able to access Resources Online through their DEMIRS' My Account.
