CCIWA is proud to be awarded Inclusive Employer status by Diversity Council Australia (DCA) for the fifth year in a row, recognising the organisation’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
DCA’s annual Inclusive Employers Index tracks the progress of Australian organisations to measure their progress over time and benchmark their results against the wider Australian workforce.
To be named on the Inclusive Employers list, organisations must exceed the National Index Benchmark across several key diversity and inclusion areas.
CCIWA Acting CEO Matt Golds said the recognition reflected the organisation’s commitment to creating a workplace where everyone felt valued, respected and able to contribute.
“At CCIWA, we’re determined to show leadership when it comes to creating more diverse and equitable workplaces,” he said.
“We know that inclusive workplaces deliver better service, stronger innovation and deeper trust with the communities that we serve.”
DCA research shows workplace inclusion boosts employee wellbeing, fuels performance and minimises risk. Workers in inclusive teams are:
- three times less likely to leave,
- more than twice as likely to work extra hard, and
- four times more likely to provide excellent customer service.

Golds said CCIWA’s commitment to diversity and inclusion went beyond the organisation itself.
“We have just held our second Diversity & Inclusion Awards, which celebrates the outstanding businesses and individuals taking great strides in D&I,” he said.
“There were almost 150 entrants across 11 categories, with the worthy winners announced at a gala dinner at Crown Perth.”
The Diversity and Inclusion Awards have also gained international recognition, recently taking out the Best D&I Initiative award at the World Chambers Congress in Melbourne in September.
“Our biggest hope is that the Diversity and Inclusion Awards act as a beacon for other businesses by showing that equity doesn’t need to be difficult and can be embraced by all businesses,” Golds said.
CCIWA is also partnering with the WA Government to run the Ability Link program, which aims to link people with disabilities with job opportunities.
Through Apprenticeship Services Australia, CCIWA is supporting the development of apprenticeships for Indigenous people and women in traditionally male-dominated industries.
DCA CEO Catherine Hunter congratulated this year’s Inclusive Employers for showing their commitment to fostering inclusive workplaces where employees in all their diversity could thrive.
“DCA’s Inclusive Employer Index shines a spotlight on employers who are creating meaningful change and inspiring others to follow their lead,” Hunter said.
