The fourth round of the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) program will open later this year, following the grant guidelines recently being released.
The program, delivered by the Federal Government, helps Australian businesses grow, market and promote their products and services globally.
It has supported exporters for nearly five decades.
This round offers larger grant amounts than before, with eligible Australian businesses able to receive grants ranging from $20,000 to $80,000 to support their export goals.
Grant applications are set to open in November 2024.
Australian exporters are encouraged to prepare early, by developing their market plans and completing the new free export readiness test.
What can the funds be used for?
The funds can be used for marketing and promotional activities in accessing new markets, including expenses for consulting services such as those through CCIWA’s International Trade and Investment Centre.
“We have extensive experience in helping businesses go global by assisting them in accessing new markets, identifying global partners and reducing export risks,” says Michael Carter, Head of CCIWA’s International Trade and Investment Centre.
“These grants really open doors for businesses to grow and diversify their markets.
“We encourage all businesses thinking about expanding their international footprint to apply for an EMDG and contact us to find out how we can help them.”
Free training and readiness test
This EMDG round includes free training and readiness test to help new exporting businesses ensure they are export ready, and meet eligibility requirements before they apply for a grant.
The export readiness test was designed by the Export Council of Australia and is available online to any business looking at expanding their export markets via the EMDG portal from today.
Businesses can also get access to free exporting training, tools, information and advice through the enhanced Go Global Toolkit website.
The Government says these changes will ensure the EMDG program returns to delivering for those businesses who are taking the leap to start, grow or diversify exporting.
