Ryan has 15 years of management and industrial relations experience, providing quality legal advice to businesses in a wide range of industries. Ryan’s expertise includes providing employment solutions that contribute to the strategic thinking and direction of businesses.
Ryan is able to provide advice and assistance across a range of areas including employment law, discrimination/equal opportunity and strategic negotiations. Ryan has also assisted clients in defending various claims in the Far Work Commission and Federal Court.
Cass has over 20 years’ experience as a lawyer across Sydney and Perth. Her experience includes advising businesses in commercial legal matters, regulatory compliance, board governance, privacy and data protection. Cass has extensive experience in negotiating commercial arrangements including responding to tenders and drafting bespoke contractual agreements.
Cass has extensive board experience and a passion for board governance. She acts for a broad range of clients from small to large businesses, charities and not for profits across multiple industries. Cass focuses on providing strategic, practical and proactive commercial legal advice to protect her client’s business interests.
Laura has over 10 years’ experience in industrial relations, assisting businesses of various sizes and industries. As a lawyer, her areas of expertise include advising and representing clients in enterprise agreement negotiations, payroll and compliance audits, award interpretation, complex performance management, discipline and termination matters, union disputes, and managing mental health in the workplace.
She has a particular interest in the care sector, with her previous experience in CCIWA’s Policy and Advocacy team giving her a unique and practical insight into assisting clients in navigating a complex industrial relations system in the context of increasing regulatory burden.
Martina has more than 20 years’ experience advising CCIWA Members and businesses on their industrial relations and employment matters including advising on complex matters and is an experienced litigator and advocate for employers. In her role at CCIWA, Martina has successfully represented Members in the WA Industrial Relations Commission, Fair Work Commission, Supreme Court, Federal Court, Federal Circuit and Family Court, the Equal Opportunity Commission and the State Administrative Tribunal.
Agnes has over 30 years’ legal experience across the jurisdictions of New Zealand and Australia. Agnes provides advice and assistance on complex issues in business and work arrangements including on business entities and transactions, board and shareholder governance, intellectual property protections and licensing arrangements.
Agnes also has experience in conducting workplace investigations and practices in Work Health and Safety law, providing businesses with compliance and risk management advice, how to manage workplace safety issues as well as being a Member of the Work Health and Safety Commission of Western Australia.
Michael started his career in insurance litigation where he acted for major Australian insurers on a variety of claims, such as workers’ compensation, public liability, and industrial actions.
He now practises exclusively in the industrial relations/employment law sector with experience including compliance with the Award system, managing employees, enterprise agreements, workplace investigations and acting in industrial actions. Michael has been involved in proceedings in a number of Australian Courts and Tribunals, such as Workcover WA, the District Court of Western Australia, the Fair Work Commission, the Federal Circuit Court, and the Australian Human Rights Commission.
James is part of the Commercial team at BLWA and advises businesses on a range of commercial and corporate matters. His practice includes drafting and negotiating business contracts and commercial agreements, providing consumer law advice, assisting with corporate governance matters and advising on data and privacy matters.
James graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2016 and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in December 2017. He has experience across both the public and private sectors, including as a Judge’s Research Associate in the District Court of Western Australia and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. He has also worked at the Office of the Information Commissioner WA.
James is passionate about building strong client relationships and working collaboratively to achieve practical, commercially focused outcomes.
Kara is part of the Workplace Relations team at BLWA and advises businesses on a range of employment law matters. Her practice includes assisting with unfair dismissal and general protections claims, contract disputes, preparing employment contracts, policies and procedures, and supporting clients through all stages of enterprise agreement bargaining.
Kara has experience representing clients in a number of Australian jurisdictions, including the Fair Work Commission, the Industrial Relations Commission of Western Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of Western Australia, and the Australian Human Rights Commission.
She was admitted as a lawyer and officer of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in November 2021. Kara is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator and works with businesses of all sizes and industries to resolve workplace disputes, focusing on achieving practical and mutually beneficial outcomes.
Louisa is part of the Workplace Relations team at BLWA and advises businesses on a range of employment law matters. Her practice includes assisting with unfair dismissal and contract disputes, preparing employment contracts, policies and procedures, and supporting clients through all stages of enterprise agreement bargaining.
Louisa also has experience conducting workplace investigations and advising clients on managing internal investigations, ensuring practical and compliant outcomes.
She graduated from the University of Western Australia and was admitted as a lawyer and officer of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in July 2023. Louisa brings experience working with in-house teams across construction and litigation, giving her a strong understanding of the need for commercially practical employment law solutions.
Anna is part of the Workplace Relations and Commercial teams at BLWA and advises businesses on a broad range of employment and commercial law matters. Her practice includes reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts, assisting with dispute resolutions across State and Federal jurisdictions, and providing advice to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
Anna works with a diverse range of clients, including sole traders, SMEs, not-for-profits and large organisations across Perth and beyond, delivering clear and practical advice tailored to each client’s needs.
She was admitted as a lawyer and officer of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in June 2023.
