CCIWA signs MoU with ZJIEC

CCIWA has moved to bolster WA’s food and wellness businesses in China after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Zhejiang International E-Commerce Holding Co.

The MoU, signed in May, aims to elevate the awareness and profile of WA’s agrifood and premium food and wellness products.

Midtown Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

The areas of collaboration include:

  • CCIWA and ZJIEC to maintain regular contact to exchange ideas on growing greater collaboration between WA and Zhejiang in creating greater awareness of WA products;
  • CCIWA and ZJIEC to mutually support in principle the opportunity to promote WA products to Chinese importers and distributors in Zhejiang;
  • CCIWA and ZJIEC to explore opportunities to cooperate and collaborate — leveraging ZJIEC’s online and offline capabilities in Zhejiang to promote WA products in China;
  • ZJIEC to channel and direct any importer agrifood enquiries or levels of interest received to WA agrifood companies via CCIWA; and
  • CCIWA and ZJIEC to mutually exchange information and general knowledge regarding trade, investment and possible collaborative partnerships and opportunities in relation to both the WA and Zhejiang agrifood sectors.

“CCIWA and ZJIEC share a common vision to support greater collaboration between WA’s agrifood sector and the agrifood marketplace of Zhejiang,” the MoU says.

Michael Carter, head of CCIWA’s International Trade and Investment Centre, said CCIWA’s MoU with ZJIEC will build upon the Sister State relationship established between Zhejiang Province and Western Australia in 1987.

“The opportunity for WA food and agribusiness products to enter the burgeoning consumer market of the eastern coastal Zhejiang province, reaching nine of the province’s key cities, is good for expanding WA’s food exports,” he said.

“We are well placed to help WA companies pursue the trade, investment and AgTech collaboration opportunities in this USD$1.4 trillion economy.”
