The CCIWA Education Development Fund (EDF), tackles challenges that impact disadvantaged young Western Australians. The primary aim of the EDF is to improve access, equity and educational outcomes for WA students impacted by poverty.
We support and inspire youth across WA by engaging our Members and the CCIWA team to provide career inspiration and support throughout the year.
Most CCIWA Members take the opportunity to make the voluntary contribution when they pay their annual fees. The EDF demonstrates our collective ability to make a significant impact through the contributions across our membership.
By working together, we can transform the lives of disadvantaged young Western Australians and create better opportunities for our future workforce.
How we’re making a difference
Each year CCIWA holds this event to promote careers in economics for top year 12 economic students and to encourage greater take up of the discipline after completion of secondary school.
This annual forum aims to provide education/training practitioners, youth agency staff and community groups working in the youth services field with an opportunity to learn about programs and services to support school aged young people to stay engaged or successfully transition from school to other approved options, including education programs, training and employment. We are a founding member of the Engagement Forum WA committee.
We sponsor initiatives run through the Innovation Institute aimed at developing entrepreneurship and innovation skills in primary and secondary students. The Innovation Institute runs programs with classes to assist students with understanding problem-solving, technology, and innovation in a business context.
We have are a founding partner and sponsor of the annual Get into Resources events. This initiative is run annually over two days aimed at year ten students to promote career pathways in the resource sector. Activities range from science labs to try-a-trade sessions and allow young people to get an understanding of the broad range of roles and STEM skills required in the resource sector.
CCIWA is a founding sponsor for the Youth Futures Pipeline challenge and a youth team sponsor. This 5-day bicycle ride from Kalgoorlie to Mundaring brings mountain bikers together for youth homelessness, coordinated by Youth Futures, focussing on homelessness, education, and support & wellbeing.
CCIWA support Headspace, the national youth mental health agency, with the delivery of a BikeRescue program, provided by youth services organisation Dismantle. The program gives young people the chance to complete Dismantle’s unique 10-session mentoring program for at-risk young people.
