Payroll Tax

Scrapping payroll tax is the most important tax reform for business because it would help create jobs in WA.

Payroll tax costs WA jobs because it is a tax on employment and WA business wants the next government to remove this burden on their ability to offer extra jobs.

Businesses don’t want to be penalised for increasing salaries and giving people jobs – and CCI believes they shouldn’t be.

“Our business currently pays $1.685m in rent, $362,000 in rates and taxes (including land tax) and a $82,497 in payroll tax,” says a Perth retailer who employs up to 49 staff.

“We are not able to increase prices further to cover the spiralling government charges.”

Abolishing payroll tax is a priority for our state election agenda to get the next government to Help Business Work.
