Why you need a social media plan?

By CCIWA Editor

A social media plan is essential but it doesn’t have to be a headache.

It is a strategic document that indicates the best times, days, streams, hashtags and other criteria for your business to publish on any of the platforms available.

A social media plan may only need to be looked at once a year, or even every two years, but once you have a strategy, everything falls into place.

It’s important to be selective and not sign your business up to every form of social media.

Some companies may have seven streams of social media but usually on a couple will be active.

It’s advisable not to drown in a torrent of streams — choose your media based on what you can keep active and current.

If your stream allows public feedback, such as Facebook or Tripadvisor, you’ll need to task someone with monitoring and responding appropriately.

A stream such as Instagram allows you to post daily specials (anything from floral bouquets to dinner menus) to followers in minutes.

If you can’t afford an expert, the Australian Government offers an excellent template and guide here.
